Book Review: Naomi Wolf’s FACING THE BEAST / Courage Faith and Resistance in a a New Dark Age
By Jacqueline Marcus
Naomi Wolf’s new book FACING THE BEAST / Courage Faith and Resistance in a New Dark Age is a work of beautiful prose. The exquisite poetic descriptions meet the standard of what literary critics have called “the sublime” i.e. an elevated form of writing that is, in Platonic terms, both engaging and enlightening, that reflects the Form of Beauty and Goodness.
There is a spiritual depth in Wolf’s writings that only an Old Soul (one who is wise) in the tradition of Judaism could convey. In the genres of memoirs, this book will pass the Test of Time. It will serve as a “benchmark” of what a literary work of art and instruction represent in the words of Matthew Arnold “the best that has been thought and said to provide a source of beauty and inspiration.”
I know a work of the sublime when I see it. It has all the qualities that distinguish it as a masterpiece; an astonishing jewel that shines in the night like a guiding North Star that elevates the reader and inspires the soul to question what is truly meaningful. In simple terms, you will not be able to put this book down.
By the end of this book, you’ll feel as if Naomi Wolf were your best and trusted friend. Lastly, Facing the Beast enables us to see the historical warning signs of what totalitarianism looks like and how it slowly creeps up and corrupts civil societies into prison walls. History has taught us: We must not be fooled again.

Now let’s dig in to the essential content of Facing the Beast – a Beast that will self-implode from its own darkness…
In Chapter Eleven, Wolf describes metaphorically what it is to face a dangerous threat (facing the Beast). Actually, she experienced a rather scary situation with a real bear that approached their family's cabin in a wooded area. This bear was determined to break in and Naomi tried to take cover in the bathroom by hiding and she began to think magically that the bear would go away as long as she didn't see it. She used this scary confrontation as a metaphor of facing a beast that no one outside her circle of investigative researchers, doctors and lawyers were allowed to see or hear about due to the mass censorship on Covid 19 vaccination injuries and deaths.
TAKE NOTE! How many people knew that Fosun China Communist Party Pharmaceuticals and Pfizer/ BioNTech worked together to make the Covid-19 experimental laboratory drug that they injected into millions of innocent human guinea pigs? How many people know that the Covid test kits were made by the CCP and that the swabs of test results were being collected and sent to the CCP labs for DNA investigations?
Are you getting the picture of what Wolf means by facing the BEAST? Wolf explains:
"The heart of the manufacture and distribution of millions of doses of the mRNA vaccines that have caused such a swath of death and destruction throughout North America and Western Europe is enmeshed with the plan, methods, and manufacturing infrastructure of our existential adversary."
(More on the thousands of deaths and vaccine injuries below). Wolf concluded that there was no other way to describe this "beast" than to say that she was seeing a "massive act of war," against the populations of the world.
Although it’s difficult to say what part or chapter of the book appealed the most to me—as each chapter builds on the next from the 2020—2022 Covid lockdown years, arguably, Principalities and Powers Ch 4 was like music to my ears: It was confirmation and retribution. Wolf described better than I could ever say on how easily liberals relinquished their principles and freedoms!
How could the liberals, the champions of Free Speech, independence, peace instead of war, the defenders of our Constitutional Rights—how could the leadership of the Democrat Party suddenly morph into tyrants before my very eyes? I kept asking myself whether or not I had been bamboozled by the Democrat Party and if so—for how many years?
How could every liberal I know, including established poets and writers of high esteem, suddenly roll up their sleeves and allow Big Pharma to inject them with an unknown substance and not even be the least bit curious to know what it is or what it does or why it’s called mRNA?
AND, most importantly, how could the liberals that preached My Body My Choice demand FORCED VACCINATIONS? If you were a doctor or worked at the airlines or owned a business or worked in Federal agencies--IF YOU REFUSED TO TAKE THE JAB, YOU WOULD BE FIRED AT YOUR HOSPITAL, YOUR PRIVATE MEDICAL PRACTICE WOULD BE SHUT DOWN, YOU'D BE FORCED TO LEAVE THE MILITARY, YOU'D GO BANKRUPT DUE TO STILL BEING FORCED TO PAY RENT, THE BANKS ON LOANS AND MORTGAGES, AND IF YOU INSISTED ON KEEPING YOUR BUSINESS OPENED DURING THE COVID LOCKDOWN, YOU'D BE FACING ARREST AND RUTHLESS CRIMINAL CHARGES OF UP TO THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.
The consequences have led to economic ruin and impoverishment for middle class families while the high tech companies' incomes such as Amazon doubled their incomes by draining the loss and incomes of those businesses such as family owned restaurants, mom & pop shops, gyms, etc. like vultures, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Walmart, Target fed off the remains of what was left from the "lockdown mandates". Add to that Biden's inflation and what you are now witnessing is the collapse of the upper and middle classes; and the mandates turned the black communities into disaster zones while the top elitists of the Democrat Party, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton proudly boasted about "black lives matter".
Take a listen to this most important interview at American Thought Leaders with Ramesh Thakur on a deeper understanding of these draconian policies and the consequences that resulted from censorship, shadow-banning and the forced mandates:
The New Biosecurity State: Former UN Top Official Ramesh Thakur on How Science Became Dogma:
It was re-assuring to know that Naomi Wolf was raising the same questions only with many more examples of hypocrisies and contradictions. She let her readers know what it was like to be mocked, shunned, screamed at and ostracized for raising perfectly rational questions and for showing evidence that contradicted the media’s “Safe & Effective” promotion of the Covid-19 injection during this lockdown (a prison term) period that the liberals rejected without exception. Hear no evil see no evil—was their blind allegiance attitude to the so-called experts and authoritarians.
Moreover, no one could so much as raise questions about the Covid-19 injections, the mask mandates or lockdowns without being labeled a conspiracy theorist spreading misinformation followed by being censored on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and other mainstream media outlets.
Why would Obama, who was supposed to have taught constitutional law at Harvard, be giving lectures at college campuses on why censorship is necessary to snuff out those who dared to question his and the legacy media’s narratives, lies, deceptions and half truths. A narrative is not based on facts; a narrative can be fictional. It’s subjective. I can make up any narrative I want. It’s exactly the word Obama and his media lapdogs love since he’s a nihilist, one who believes there are no absolute truths, no God and no a priori values of what is right and wrong.
The other day I came across a collection of poems that I had forgotten about as I was organizing my books. Flowers of Flame / Unheard Voices of Iraq published by Michigan State University Press 2008 where my first book of poems was published, Close to the Shore. I highlighted this passage at the time from the introduction with the thought that this could not happen to poets or writers or political reporters in our country. As Naomi Wolf said, "We're there." In fact, just recently 12/12/2023 Zuckerberg deleted Naomi Wolf's accounts at both Facebook and Instagram and years of reports with links and users of her account received threatening messages. Now we're finding out what it's like to live in a totalitarian state of censorship. Here's the passage:
"Since the 1970s, only a small, fortunate group of Iraqi poets have been translated. The majority have been marginalized or neglected. They were writing in very difficult times: every word was scrutinized by a brutal, ignorant censorship. "You are either with us or against us." (sound familiar? think G.W. Bush and now the Democrat Party) was the motto of the merciless guardians of the literary establishment, 'With us,' according to the logic of the authorities, meant chanting hymns in praise of the dominating ideology and the futile wars of its leaders. 'Against us' meant any suspicion of free, independent thinking, whether or not it threatened their ideology or their leader."
Ultimately, I came to the realization that Barack Hussein Obama usurped the Democratic Party from the principles espoused by John F Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. Both he and Michelle continued to preach about “transforming” the United States. But what exactly did they mean by that? Going by the anti-liberal, pro authoritarian policies that Obama signed into law such as a massive surveillance operation used against Americans as well as an aggressive censorship network applied to dissenters or those that questioned the Orwellian mandates that felt extremely oppressive: racial division, a false contemporary narrative that the Obamas instigated between blacks and whites, that “transformation” resembles a bad mix between China’s communist party, replace class with race divisions, and Iran’s Islamic culture of tyranny. Put China and Iran together and suddenly you have Obama’s vision of a transformed America.
It was shocking to see how easily Democrats accepted decisions that they previously found appalling and oppressive if they read about it during WWII or under Stalin’s regime. It’s as if they never read about the Milgram Experiment or Orwell’s 1984 or Doris Lessing’s The Prisons We Choose to Live in. They turned into Pavlov dogs before my eyes and there was no way to discuss these questions with them. People that I’ve known for many years blocked me from their email accounts. The brainwashing was so thorough at all the colleges across the country from Berkeley to Harvard that you had to ask if the basis of getting a liberal education was a joke.
Take the jab and shut up! Wear your mask! Did it ever occur to these little tyrants that demanded obedience that the tiny Covid particles can easily slip through masks and that masks created all sorts of health problems: lack of oxygen, dizziness, headaches, bacteria, staff infections, perception problems. Children became like dumb mutes because for two years they couldn’t see facial expressions or properly learn languages.
Like Wolf I was a Democrat that believed in our platform principles: independence, protect and defend the Bill of Rights, uphold humane ideals of checks and balances (a reliable form of ensuring just causes), respect for free speech and an adversarial form of debate, choose peace over wars, protect nature, wildlife and animals…
Wolf writes:
"…Friends and colleagues who were wellness-oriented, and who, their whole adult lives, had known the dangers of Big Pharma—and who would only use Burt’s Bees on their babies’ bottoms and sunscreen with no endocrine-disrupting additives on themselves—lined up to take an experimental gene therapy (mRNA); why not? And worse, they crowded around, like the stone throwers in Shirley Jackson’s short story “The Lottery,” to lash out at and to shun anyone who raised the most basic questions about Big Pharma and its highly compensated spokesmodels."
Wolf provides ample cases of how the liberal intelligentsia turned into a mob of brainless mutes that obeyed the dictates from Pfizer and the Fauci Bill Gates circle of oligarchs. Meanwhile Big Pharma and their Democrat friends that invested in the experimental so-called vaccine made hundreds of billions of dollars in profits. What they refused and still refuse to discuss over the media networks that are practically owned by Big Pharma given their endless advertisements are the consequences that followed from this vaccine marketing campaign: the thousands of people that died after getting the shot or were permanently maimed for life.
Naomi Wolf was blackballed, censored, and banned from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube for revealing the horrors, the deaths and permanent severe health diseases that the mRNA “experimental emergency vaccine” caused to pregnant mothers, babies, children, young adults and people of all ages:
“…sudden deaths, slow deaths, encephalopathy, strokes, heart attacks, pericarditis, myocarditis, Guillain-Barre, Bell’s palsy, multiple sclerosis, blood clots, lung clots, leg clots, blue-green breast milk, spontaneous abortions, stillbirths, neonatal seizures, neonatal multiorgan system failure, liver damage, kidney damage, suppressed lactation, suppressed sperm count, dissrupted menses, all detailed in the Pfizer documents…”
If you thought using poor blacks for syphilis experimentation conducted in the United States known as the “Tuskegee Study” was evil—what Big Pharma and their global oligarch investors did to the entire human race is beyond rational explanation. One can only conclude that such inexplicable decisions are darker than profits. I’m reminded of the horror movie, “The Devil’s Advocate” with Al Pacino. They look human on the surface but their souls are frighteningly corrupted.
And those who forced the people of the world to inject an experimental “emergency” drug into their bodies: Big Pharma executives, Fauci, Bill Gates, Obama’s Democrat Party usurped by bad faith players viz. the Obamas, Soros, Gates and other globalists behind the scenes, the CIA, FBI, Schwab, Biden—are nihilists of the worst kind: empty vessels, bodies without souls, in that they lack moral consciences, or an understanding of what is morally and spiritually wrong.
And now you can add Naomi Klein to that list of Big Pharma demons. Here’s one more example of a liberal that morphed into a tyrant. Klein, as it turns out, received millions of dollars indirectly through her father-in-law and husband from the evil genius Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and from PharmaCare to target Naomi Wolf’s exceptionally brilliant and informative new book, Facing the Beast. I don’t want to name Klein’s book—suffice it to say if you wish to know more about how a once respected liberal (Klein) was infected in the brain by some sort of inexplicable greed to attack Wolf, a truth-teller of the highest integrity, read Naomi Wolf’s substack
But the worst violators of our individual rights and higher principles of Moral Justice are the treasonous media whores that did the dirty work for their masters by choosing to become drug pushers with their endless parade of marketing advertisements for Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Big Pharma across every broadcast network from Amy Goodman’s DemocracyNow! which should be changed to PfizerNow! to NPR to the New York Times, Washington Post, NBC, MSNBC, ABC, CBS. The corporate news outlets all participated in pushing this unconscionable experiment.
Instead of doing their research as professional journalists, and doing the hard, time consuming and honorable work that Naomi Wolf took on, they simply read from a Talking Points sheet passed down from Pfizer and the CIA. The CIA did the job of using war terminology against independent journalists, scientists and physicians that were trying to warn the public about the Covid-19 mRNA shot having strong evidence that the people were being deceived about its safety. In an awful twist of fate-irony, the CIA labeled the Truth-Tellers “conspiracy nuts”, with the attached claims that they were passing on “mis-information” and therefore must be censored.
So much for our adversarial system of justice under our First Amendment, eh, liberals?! When you’re only allowed to hear the federal government’s side sponsored by Big Pharma and that side only – you know something has gone terribly awry in our country. And yet, liberals like Michael Moore, Rachel Maddow, and the talking heads over the legacy media news programs and presses are all for smashing to pieces that adversarial system of justice reminiscent of the evil little brats in Lord of the Flies.
As for all my former Democrat friends that accepted these draconian policies in blue states I’d like to remind them about Dostoevsky’s infamous story in The Brothers Karamazov, The Grand Inquisitor: A story told by Ivan Karamazov, a scholar and intellectual skeptic, to his younger brother, Aloysha, who has based his love of God and his faith in the belief that men are at heart basically good. Ivan, however, presents a darker side to Aloysha as told by the Grand Inquisitor who arrests Jesus for returning during the Spanish Inquisition. In fact, the Inquisitor is angry at Jesus—and yet Jesus does not say a word. It’s as if He acknowledges what the Grand Inquisitor has observed in most people: Human weakness and the inability to act on moral imperatives that go against their own best interest.
What’s sad and alarming is the Grand Inquisitor was right, and Wolf does an amazing job of illustrating this depressing point throughout her book: as we’ve witnessed, most people and politicians are not strong enough to take on the awesome responsibility of free choice that Jesus has offered. Most people are not strong enough to be independent thinkers and free moral agents. And that is the Grand Inquisitor’s message to Jesus. They’re sheep. They’re weak. They’re incapable of acting on their God-given moral consciences which they would gladly return for someone else to do the thinking for them.
I, myself, was appalled at how liberals flocked to worship Anthony Fauci. How easily they are fooled by evil deceivers that intentionally exploit people’s good faith: Take the jab! Do it for your grandparents. Do it for your neighbors and your community!
Fauci reminds me of the screaming TV preachers that persuade seniors to give their homes and savings to them instead of their family members because Jesus will love them for that act of kindness.
FACING THE BEAST is not only one of the most important books of our time—it will go down in history for revealing shocking revelations of what happened after the stolen 2020 election. We are witnessing a puppet administration that takes its orders from psychotic tyrants. In the future, IF we fight our way out of this darkness, Naomi Wolf’s book will be “required reading” at all high schools and colleges. This book is a keeper. Hold on to it. And read it not just once but for the rest of your lives. Keep reading it – so that you can recognize the Red Flags.
